The research wing of Tirupati Eye Centre & Research Institute has been established with the main mission to eliminate avoidable blindness by providing evidence through research and evolving methods to translate it clinically.

Research activities at this research centre are divided into 2 arms

  1. Clinical arm- for clinical studies to improve outcomes of treatment in patients with eye diseases. The ongoing studies are enlisted later
  2. Molecular arm- for molecular studies in ophthalmology o find out the molecular basis if diseases and translate them into clinical benefits ) clinical translational research)

The Molecular Arm was launched on April 11th, 2018 at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi in the august presence of Dr. Mahesh Sharma; Member Parliament and Minister of State for Culture, Tourism, Climate, Environment and Forest and many other prominent dignitaries.

The launch also included certified training modules for approximately 100 women ophthalmologists and ophthalmologists of Tirupati eye Centre for Clinical and Molecular Research Methodology.

The centre has set up a Biorepository for storage of samples collected from the eye which will be further used to carry out research studies. The Biorepository caters to all women ophthalmologists in New Delhi and neighbouring regions

4. Ongoing studies

  • Prevalence of dry eye and its correlation with the biomarkers and quality of life in patients presenting for cataract surgery
  • The study and effects of botulinum toxin injection in post cataract surgery patients
  • Molecular and clinical correlation of early regression post Presbylasik in hyperopes
  • To study the effects of angle kappa, pupillary diameter and HOAs on final visual outcome after cataract surgery with implantation of monofocal, bifocal or trifocal IOLs

img Tirupati Eye Centre now launches the latest and safest Lasik Laser technology Teneo 2 by Bausch & Lomb with "Bladeless Flapless Touchless" Lasik laser.

img Project Drishti was inaugurated in August,2023 in which Rotary Club of Noida and Tirupati Eye Centre jointly started free operation of Cataract. In the first session, 100 free operations will be done in 3 months. These operations will be done in those people who are unable to get their operations done due to lack of money.
