Tear film has 3 layers: -
Current treatment protocol demand that we first find out the layer of tear affected and study the eyelids and then customize a treatment. For studying the layers and lids at Tirupati Eye Centre we do an advanced investigation with an equipment called IDRA which detects the level of abnormality in the tear film.
After this we give treatment in 1 of the following forms: -
Intense regulated light therapy (IRPL)
At Tirupati Eye Centre we use the advances IRPL E-Eye therapy to trat dry eye due to Meibomian gland dysfunction when we detect this with IDRA as the cause of dry eye.
The “E-Eye” is a device that generates a pulsed light called intense regulated light by producing perfectly calibrated and homogenously sequenced light pulses which stimulate the meibomian glands in order for them to return to their normal function.
The stimulation leads to the meibomian glands returning to their normal function in a very short time (a couple of hours) following the treatment.
The full success of treatment depends on the compliance with a specific protocol. The protocol consists of 3 sessions as follows:
The efficiency is nearly constant on all forms of meibomian gland dysfunction. And is a wonder treatment for dry eye. Several patients have benefitted from this treatment.
