Diploma in ophthalmic techniques is a full time course of three-year duration. The course commences on 1st November every year and is divided into four semester of six month each. The third year apprenticeship is devoted to clinical and practical work. There will be examination after the apprenticeship and assessment will be done. There are fully equipped out patient departments with a provision of routine & specialized, investigations associated with clinics in ophthalmic specialties in various centres. Fully equipped indoor wards with all facilities are available. An air-conditioned operation theater provided with modern and latest sophisticated instruments functions regularly with an EMERGENCY unit, well equipped with resuscitation equipments. The diploma holders will play a vital role in providing eye care patients and preventing blindness and vision threatening diseases.
The responsibilities of an ophthalmic assistant will include chiefly (under supervision)
